Hard to say but I can tell you one thing from a prior bad experience with trunk racks – the bike will bounce around and if it is too low or not secured well it will bang into both your car and the road and potentially destroy your bike / tire and trunk. Highly recommend a roof rack instead. Good luck.

It’s likely going to not be balanced and will shift when you drive.

I wouldn’t trust it. Do the smart thing and get a hitch rack for your beauty.

I would say no. The front tire looks very close to the ground But the bigger concern is that most of the weight is above where the rack contacts the frame. I’d worry that the rear wheel is going to want to rotate back and rip the entire bike from the rack.

I much prefer tray style racks, but if you want to make this one work, they make adjustable poles that connect between the headset and the seatpost, giving you something more like a normal top tube to hang the bike from.
Lol, that’s a wild angle. You can get this cross bar thingy’s that hook between your seatpost and handlebars- resulting in a horizontal tube you can then attach that to your rack. The end product is that your bike hangs off the rack at a normal level position, although slightly lower- so you have to be careful for ground clearance.

No. Buy an adapter bar, if you don’t plan to get a hitch rack. A bar is only about $40. Why risk damages to $$$ bike carrying it like that!

Umm fuck no. That’s sketchy as hell. You need a non standard frame adapter

If you’re going to do that take the wheels off but alternating did you take your front tire off you could fit that thing in the back seat. Source I have a yaris and my bike in my back seat with the front tire off

No. This style of rack is designed to hang bikes so that their center of gravity is beneath the mounting point, keeping them stable. Mounted this way, the bike is very top heavy and will want to swing- especially backwards with the wind pushing on it.

Definitely take the backwheel off, then it should hold ok.

No. It’s wildly unstable and putting weird torque on the rack and frame. Neither is designed to take off-axis forces. The only question is if the eventual point of failure would be the whole rack ripping off, the strap breaking, or the frame snapping.
That rack may be expensive, but it sucks. It’s an annoying design for all bikes, but especially inappropriate for full suspension bikes. Basically the worst choice possible. A hitch mounted tray rack is best. While less user friendly, a roof rack will at least hold the bike securely.
Absolutely not… the adapter bar is like 20 bucks… buy one.
djinone on
It looks like you should be able to slide the bike into the rack with the straps on the top tube as the manufacturer intended, it would just be a tighter fit and at a weird angle due to the suspension and angled tube

This is a horrible way to do it. I would only do this for trails that are a minute or 2 away.

Take the wheels off and stick it in the boot? (I have a Mini Cooper and a size 61 road bike so that is always my solution :p)

Hidden hitch + hitch rack. Not expensive and super easy transporting bikes. Why risk both bikes and car?
Ideally you want to mount the CG in-between those two bars and have it not increase your cars wind profile. So if you look at your car from the front, you want to see minimal bike sticking out around the profile of your car. You might have got #1 down but not #32.

If you have to do it like that, flip it over and remove the front wheel so that there’ll be less air drag.

If you’re anti-trying to put a hitch on your car, you can try [this](https://www.thule.com/en-us/bike-rack/trunk-bike-racks/thule-outway-platform-2-_-993005), but you already invested in the bike, just treat it right and get a proper hitch and rack.
