Motorcycle Camping on Wales | March 2024

I went camping for a couple of nights in Mid Wales in Mid March. Weather wet with frost overnight. Wales is Beautiful any time of the year. Check out the route I took here:

Good morning um middle of March um I’m off down to see my son in Swansea and I’m going to do a couple of nights camping down in Wales uh on the route so um yep go everything laid out all ready to go um so all I got to do is pack it

Have a bit of breakfast and then we’ll be on our way cheers okay we’re all done so bike’s packed up as we can see nicely Laden taking far too much with me but there you go uh I’m expecting rain on arrival so that’s going to be a bit of a laugh it’s

Supposed to be pouring down when I get there so uh we’ll be pitching this tent for the first time in the rain so there we go best get on I’ll see you later so here we are we’ve arrived at the campsite for Forest Fields I think it’s

Called just outside a place called 100 house um so there we go haven’t pitched a tent yet or get getting ready to do so uh luckily I’ve just caught a break in the weather so that means I’m hopefully get this tent up without getting the inner all wet so that’ll

Make the next couple of nights quite comfortable so yeah it’s all quite nice around there isn’t it all good so I’ll crack on now uh get the tent up catch later right so I managed to pitch the tent um it started raining almost as soon as I started putting the thing up

So um unfortunately my uh jacket got a bit wet um but otherwise um yeah I’ve managed to get pretty much the T well it’s a bit of a mess at the moment but uh pretty much managed to get everything sorted out I’ve got uh the inner up so that’s all

Go right got my bed sorted out and the inner and my the inner and the uh and my clothes are all dry so that’s um spectacular really done well there so here for two nights so h move this so hopefully unless it really floods down

Uh I should be pretty good to go um so uh I’m going to knock up a little bit of dinner later on so uh just getting ready for that uh but the first thing I’m going to do is um go and TR and find their drying room and get some wet stuff

In there to dry out for the morning get some water uh get my bearings a little bit and then uh we’ll start to cook see you later taking all the stuff to the drawing room so that’s all done uh go and pick it up

In an hour or so uh it’s 10 to 7 now I think no what are we now no 10 to 6 actually so just getting dinner underway so um yeah I’m knocking up a curry so that’s coming on here we go all Good uh so you like can say chicken curry I’m having so I uh knocked together the spices before I came up brought a uh tin of uh tomato with me um bought some chicken last hours out U I got some stir fry veg actually stir fry veg so I’m going to

Try and have the curry with stir fry can’t stand rice um so hopefully that will all come together and in about half an hour maybe 3/4 an hour depending how long it takes to cook the chicken uh I’ll be eating good yeah half for 6 and I think the dinner’s

Ready so uh let’s have a look it’s getting on looks good to me so that’s it wo there you go turn that light down a bit that’s me done for the night I’m going to eat that and then uh have a shower and go to bed and then

Uh we’ll um meet up again in the morning and uh do a bit of biking tomorrow should be quite exciting CH well morning bit of rain last night uh just a couple of showers I think it was and uh Fair bit of wind actually something something somewhere around the tent was

Uh rustling but uh I haven’t managed to uh find it just yet but anyway no I can’t see anything wrong with it uh the bike’s looking an absolute mess as well but there we go never mind that’s what it’s all about so anyway I thought I’d just give

You a quick look around the campsite because it’s um quite nice and it’s got this drawing room which is an absolute godsend and it’s why I booked this place I came here last year actually and they’re charging me the princely sum of5 per night which is half as much as it

Was last year so there isn’t inflation everywhere but uh yeah here we go so it’s a really nice setup uh you can see it’s pretty bloody empty really understandably I’ve seen one other tent here at the moment although they turned up in a car and the car’s

Gone this morning so I don’t not sure if they gave up um they provide hi hard standings here peash shingle so put your tents up on in the winter so that’s much better than the grass um I brought a ground sheet with me as well to stick

The tent on you just got to be careful that the ground sheet doesn’t stick outside the the outer shell of the tent otherwise you end up in a swimming pool uh but yeah Works quite well uh with the um with the ground sheet underneath it you don’t get any damage to the inside

Of the tent so all good yes so they got a shop here as well that’s over there that’s a that’s got an honesty box in it so you can take stuffs you just got to make sure that you uh put some money in the in the Box for it

So it’s a really nice setup really nice most excellent so yeah nice washing up area it’s all really clean probably there but I don’t know I think it does look very well maintained and then really good thing a laundry room as well any EX in there give that a

Go uh but yeah this is the real [Applause] drying room what a godsend I can get as wet as I like today always Mother Nature wants to get me and I can still recover and ride tomorrow so that’s perfect hey uh just having breakfast then so I’m getting my sausages sorted

Out they’re on the go uh and I think I I’ll just show you what we’re doing for the route for today uh it’s on my computer I’m not sure how well it’s going to come out but I’ll dub over with some screenshot shots of it’s

No good but uh yeah this is what we’re doing today so we’re doing 140 Mi Loop which take about 3 hours and 50 minutes according to this so I’m going to be leaving it around about 10:00 uh take it relatively easy don’t want to get um don’t want to push myself

Too hard um and uh the route itself it picks up I think this is Deli pass just up here doy pass down here uh and then it’s Devil’s Bridge uh waterfalls around about here and um I’m obviously down here around about 100 house so uh Forest Fields is

Just about a mile outside so that’s that’s where we am I’m going uh anticlockwise uh and uh we’ll be picking up some footage along the way I Think W Well I thought I’d just pull up and stop so uh came to the end of Doby pass and then picked up I think it’s the a451 18 uh went through some Lakes absolutely gorgeous got a break in the weather as well which was just fantastic and then I’m currently on the back end

Of the a44 which I picked up after the a418 and uh yeah uh unfortunately I’ve seen the best of it but you can sort of get an idea for what it’s like so absolutely fantastic lovely little ride just heading down to uh Devil’s Bridge I think it is uh so we’ll see what’s There So back at the campsite uh it’s dry so that’s nice uh the bike is looking like an absolute mess never mind it’s done quite well today so the trip absolutely brilliant brilliant I think I’ll post the um route which I took today on Google Maps it was

Uh I’ll leave a link on the video to it absolutely fantastic route it was all sorts single Lane stuff slightly wide wide open roads uh and all pretty much spectacular really been an absolutely fantastic day so um now going to uh probably have a beer I think uh cook

Another Curry uh have a shower and then running into tomorrow uh we’ll pick up again and doing a devil staircase tomorrow and also I think it’s black Black Mountain Pass is it over breham so uh that’s that’s tomorrow see you tomorrow well good morning nice Frost

This morning so we’re minus one I think it be running a little bit cooler than that overnight um the condensation Frozen in the tent so um yeah going to knock up some sausages this morning uh and going to wait for it to th out cuz there’s no way I’m going anywhere at

This temperature it’s got to be a minimum of at least four for me so catch you later all right uh that’s the end of the camping bit of this uh trip uh so heading down to Swansea got an apartment book for tonight so something a little bit more luxury so the

Uh bikes all packed up uh I’m taking a risk I’m not going to put me wet weathers on yet I’m going to judge it’s hopefully only going to spit a little bit so that won’t be too perturbing so uh like I said earlier catch up on the uh Devil’s staircase see

How we get on there cheers disappointingly managed to get the bike all packed up and attempted to start it but unfortunately the uh battery is flat or something so bloody thing completely conked out most disappointing called the AA this may be the end of the journey I don’t

Know we’ll see when he turns up uh about an hour away I think well I was going to settle in for a beer had it ready took it all out well there you go I got a message to say he’s only 15 minutes away so the whole

Thing’s only taken half an hour in fact he’s over there in the distance so I hope this goes well so here we are I managed to get the bike going that’s actually fantastic so I’m just kiing up into my uh wet gear uh cuz I’m getting a

Bit chilly and then uh we’ll go up through uh Devil’s Staircase N Oh Heyy Hey La D Hey He Well uh there was a diversion on the route so I didn’t manage to get to do the black Mountain Pass uh but I certainly came over the bre over the Breck and beacons and the weather was appalling so uh really uh low CL Cloud um so really foggy uh up on the mountain

Or Hill and then uh it started to absolutely pour down as well so it got completely soaked but anyway here now in the apartment in Swansea so I’ve made it uh it’s about 4:00 in the afternoon and uh my sun turns up at about 6 and we get

Out to dinner so that’s most excellent so really good trip recommend it
