i just got a new pirate bmx fork and i had a m24 top cap but it’s short it doesn’t fit on the pirate fork but it works on the older fork i had cuz the threading is closer do i need to cut the fork to get closer to the threading so it will work ??? the pirate bmx website says it works with m24 top caps , or do i need to buy new caps

Yes, but not necessarily, get a top cap that’s long enough for this fork. Otherwise the fork may be to short on your frame to safely clamp the stem
Get a longer topcap then ther is no need to cut the fork

Either cut the forks or buy a replacement topcap, no other way around it.
I cut all my forks as soon as I get them because I hate how spacers look, stem directly on the dustcap is the way to go (aesthetically).
As other people are saying just get another top cap, but make sure its the correct threading. Most of them are m24/h24 if i remember correctly. I replaced my odyssey top cap with a cult one because i liked it more
Get the proper fitting top cap. You do not want a steerer tube that is too short.
If cutting your fork is going to give you less purchase on the stem, then don’t do it, but if you’re rocking a bunch of spacers, and have your fork fully in the stem, I’d lose a couple spacers to cut it to get you by. But really just get a new cap, one that’s meant for this fork
My buddy says some companies recommend cutting the fork for strength reasons, but I’ve never seen a fork cap this short
Cut it to the same length as your old forks tube
Get a new top cap unless you actually want to cut your forks.
