The dude apparently bought it in college and basically it hung on his wall for 98% of its life. The frame and parts are still all near mint, hell there’s still an original tag on the front quick release lever and the frame size sticker still on it.

I already threw the original saddle from my checkpoint gravel bike on there cause I had it lying around . Next thing on my list is some good platform pedals because I almost ate shit 4 times on this first test ride with it because I tried taking my foot off the pedal while riding it 😂 (not used to strap ins or clips).

I’m conflicted on whether I should build it with flared out drop bars or more traditional mtb pull up bars. Lmk your thoughts!

  1. Nice find! I was going to pick one up a year ago but the seller ghosted me and a while later said he sold it to a family member. It’s in such good shape, i would just remove the reflectors and dork disc and run it as is. If you don’t mind, how much did you pay for it?

  2. Raceface Chester or PNW platform pedals are good. Plastic is good. I mean, why not just ride it as is? If you already have a gravel bike then maybe it’s good as is? Maybe throw a rack on it? It sounds hilarious now but I actually rode pretty serious single track with a rack because my bike did double duty. It never hurt me.

Building this exact same bike currently… just in much worse shape. Rode hard and put away wet. New handlebars, grips, pedals, shifters, chain, saddle and seat post. And a deeeeep clean is the current plan.

Just finished a build with this exact bike. Threw a surly fork on their for a front rack and some h-bars. If you, like me, feel that the turning is a little too sharp, throwing a slightly longer fork on it may make it a little more manageable.
