Bought a junky, rusty Schwinn High Sierra just for these Suntour Power Thumbshifters. Soaked them in some Evaporust for a couple of days and they did a pretty good job cleaning them up. Obviously can’t fix the chrome that flaked off but looks way better!

Evaporust is the best! I just used it on some parts that have been rusting since 1988 and of course they came out shiny.
BTW, I’ve used the same fluid for 4 restorations over the past 10 years. When done, I’ll just pour the liquid through a coffee filter and back into the jug. amazing stuff.
