(Apologies in advance for this dumb question. I do not know bike terms.) I am looking for some advice on how to stop getting holes in my pants from my bike. There’s a certain thing on my bike’s seat post that is causing holes in my pants on my inner thigh and I’m looking for suggestions on how to alter it so that stops happening. I just thrifted new pants and want to protect them this time. Is there something I can put on the bike part that will stop this from happening? I don’t like having to change out of my holey pants into my non holey pants when I get to work. All suggestions welcome! Thanks!

  1. Feels like the exposed bolt end* above the fastener in pic 3 is more likely the issue? If you’re getting a tear in your pants it’s likely that over a perfectly round nut.

*The bolt that holds the rear rack clamp to seat post.

    Get a shorter screw/bolt.

  2. Actually I’m wondering if the pants are being destroyed by the smaller bolt further up on the front of the seatpost, it’s sharper and much more likely to be causing the damage. Shouldn’t be hard to obtain a shorter replacement

  3. I agree with the others, I think it’s the bolt from the rack clamp that’s the culprit.

Side note, you should flatten out or even down nose your seat, that can’t be comfortable.
