Day 1 – 50 km: An easy start, visited friends in Lenggries. Nothing spectacular here.
Day 2 – 90 km: Beautiful trip passing the Silvensteinspeicher and the Achensee, then rolling through the Inntal to Innsbruck to visit a friend.
Day 3 – 70 km: Took the train to Brenner because I heard there’s a highway without a bike lane. Also wanted to ensure I descended to lower altitude for my sleeping spot. From here, it was all downhill with a great view. Had my first Italian pizza in Brixen and found a camping spot next to the castle “Trostburg.”
Day 4 – 70 km: 10/10 weather. 10/10 roads. A pure dream. Found a nice spot just before Trient and took half the day off for reading and eating.
Day 5 – 100 km: I didn’t have any plans on where to go yet, and as I met a fellow bikepacker heading to Venice, I joined in. Found a spot on the river just before Bassano del Grappa.
Day 6 – 70 km: Just one of those days, I guess. It was raining. It was mostly suburbs, so I had to ride on the street for the most part. I ate too little and had a small mental breakdown after a flat tire. After fixing it and eating some, I felt like nothing could ever stop me, lol.
Enjoyed a day in Venice and took the train to Peschiera del Garda the next day.
Day 8: As it was offseason, the walkways were mostly free, and I wasn’t in a hurry, so I enjoyed an easy ride instead of the rushed car road. Found a wooden terrace of a closed kite shop and slept the first warm night (~6°C) without a tent.
Day 9: Finished the loop around the lake to the north (last 10km at the lake suck because its only tunnels and very scary) and went back all the way to my sleeping spot from Day 4. As the weather forecast turned worse and worse, I decided to book a train from Bozen back home for the next day.
