I got this bike for an unbelievable deal a little over 3 months ago. I didn’t have much knowledge or experience with vintage Diamond Backs prior to this one and now I’m a big believer in the quality of them! I scoured the internet, but couldn’t find any catalogs or info regarding this model. It is spec’d similarly to the Ascent, which even came in the same color way. It was in great shape when I got it, but the shifters were stuck and it was dirty… so I stripped everything except the crankset – I repacked the hubs with new grease, trued the wheels, lubed up the cables and housings, put some decent gravel tires on, some inexpensive ergonomic grips, and got the shifters working. The rear shifter was a bit tricky. After cleaning the grease out, I took the cover off and had to tighten the clock spring so that the pawl would release properly during downshifts. I was glad to save it because it’s much better quality than a tourney or similar cheap replacement would be. Anyways, let me know what you think!

Nice. Since Diamondback did not have a factory and bikes were made for them to their spec, it’s not unusual to find two DB’s that look very similar, but maybe one was made in China and the other in Taiwan. One may have horizontal dropouts, and the other vertical dropouts. I didn’t like “hybrid” bikes when they came out, but I really like them now. This is really a good looking bike and it looks new!
