My Very First Taste of Cycling in France!

Sometimes you have an opportunity that needs to be taken. And while on our way to a family holiday, I had a small window of time to go for my first ride in France! No special route, no famous road, just plain old French roads to the north of Nimes. I was more than I could have imagined!

In this video I will show you the ride and give you my first impressions of French roads. Let just say it was a great success and I will be back for more!

Long time this is just to take a snip it of French riding um we’re going to be in Barcelona for the next four or 5 days and I actually have a really cool route plan on the way back um in France as well and that one’s going to be a bit

More to of France famous so we have started off nice and early this morning um and it is a Sunday so in Europe Sundays are certainly the day of rest and as a result it means like very quiet roads uh I’ve seen it in Belgium as well

Just no one now’s out early and I’ve gone it at Sunrise so I’ve seen like two cars um that whole descent Wass to myself it’s really the best time to go and ride a bike for us kiwis we get out early because you got to beat the

Traffic and beat the rush um so this is really a normal time to ride for me but it actually gives you some pretty spectacularly quiet roads compared to the hustle bustle you might normally ride in um so far the cars have pass me super courteous all the normal stuff um

Butly can’t comment on it having R only a short while but yeah where’re NES is in the south of France so it’s kind of got a very different feel to uh even the northern part of France where we drove through yesterday felt a lot like Belgium um and as we got slowly further

Down the country get that sense of change and certainly waking up this morning everything well everything’s a lot Greener at the moment um spring Springs earlier here and yeah so just sort of that nice sort of almost Coastal ear you know it’s just beautiful I really really can’t say enough about it

At the moment just looking around just a bit of shock actually how stunning this all is so look let’s let’s keep running I’m scared I’m going to run out B on the GoPro from b-roll footage trying to capture it cuz everywhere you turn is worth filming it’s just wow what

A problem to have right let’s r on we’ll show you some more all right we’re over halfway now um very very enjoyable it’s just been some nice sort of little climbs up some Ravines and just very lumpy over the top here um so yeah 70k route today just under 1,000

Vertical met so it’s up lumpy there’s no like big climbs I don’t think just up and down um road service has been pretty good A little bit rough and patches but these are very little back roads um no defined Center Line still no cars really enjoyable it’s awesome about to Lo the

Figure out again so I get to go my new favorite road once more every de seat in front like this so good now seriously this is bike riding like I just cannot remember a time where I’ve probably enjoyed just rolling so much um this place is pretty pretty cool and like I

Said before there’s no specific like route here like it’s just a route I found I might be wrong and here’s everything I got wrong if I got it wrong like if this is more special than it is but it just feels pretty magical um I think the main difference

Here vers say Belgium roads um and even New Zealand roads to a point is and maybe I’ve just fluked it you know this is the first time the first impressions but you know having those long open roads and the ones that flow and you know that’s a beautiful descent and

There’s a beautiful climb on the other side that’s nice and shallow and it just rolls around and I haven’t taken lots of turns having lots of intersections um bike Lanes through little towns not a thing you just run the road and I guess I’ve picked an early morning so there’s

Not many cars in those that I’ve got have been pretty courteous um so no real dramas there but yeah this is this is amazing um probably stting a sport myself and I’m very quickly realizing I’m going to need spend a lot more time down here um in the next few years to
