After seeing it in the correct orientation you’ve got a to small chain, try something that is officially support NW chainrings and the amount of gears you have in the back

Is this a new chain and new chainring?

How many gears do you have? A 10 or 9 speed chain will be wider than an 11 speed, vs a 12 which is even narrower.

Good thing you didn’t try to ride like that. Great way to ruin a chain.

I question everything you have done and whether or not it’s correct. Be careful with doing your own work, this is among the easiest things.

The chain you’re using (CN-HG601) is a weird size. It’s a shimano HG-EV super narrow, it’s designed for a special cassette that lets you use 11 speed on a 10 speed hub. Get a regular 11 speed chain and you’ll be fine, unless you’re using a HG-EV cassette, in this case you’ll need a standard front chainring.

looks like you have a narrow wide chainring, you need to put the chain in a specific way.
by the looks of your picture, just move the chain a link left or right. the inner plates go on the narrow teeth, the outer plates go on the wide teeth.
edit : “The Lekkie Blingring is a pioneer in introducing a narrow-wide tooth pattern for Bafang, virtually eliminating chain derailment and ensuring a smooth ride. ” Narrow wide in the description.

this is a narrow-wide chainring and you have the wide teeth trying to engage the narrow links. move the chain one link forward and check again.
It’s a narrow-wide chainring, so the wide teeth have to go inside the wide links.
