Dear mods – I hope that now the questions are more clear
I picked up this 1970~ soviet bike 🙂
Except for flats that need fixing, it’s rideable.
I want to overhaul it and maybe add a front brake but I’m a complete beginner, although with good hands and desire to learn.
What should an overhaul include?
Take it apart and grease everything + remove rust from the bolts and stuff?
New bearings maybe? If so, how do I get the right ones?
Tires and chain – how to know if they need replacement?
I want to maybe attach a dirt bike bars that I have, but then I’ll need a new stem. What should I know to pick up a one that will fit?
Are there any special tools that’ll make my life easier (I have wrenches and allen keys)?
Any other info about the process or the bike itself would be great, as well as a brake recommendation (and chain + tires if needed).
Also I want it to be a city commuter so if you have any suggestions for stuff that will be comfortable/rad/safe and I can do please share it with me.
