I commute 12.5km (25km round trip) most days averaging about 100km p/wk. I’ve just worn out the drive train in my current bike (Merida Espresso something) that I picked up second hand. I’ve found these two bikes both on sale for about the same $800 price point. Hoping for some advice on whether they’re fit for my purpose.
Looking for:
– reliability
– – I don’t want to be replacing parts every 3mths
– – I am not going to be doing anything more than monthly cleans and oils
– – it’s my primary commute vehicle
– speed
– comfort
There seems to be an $800 price point (on sale from $1200) and then a jump to $1600 in the commuter segment. I can’t really afford to go above $1200 but open to completely different suggestions (including road bikes or different categories).
