Hi, I recently updated my transmission from a 3×7 to a 1×10 system, but it’s not working right.
Besides the horrible noise, the chain does not stay in place in the ring. As you can see in the video, it jumps. It’s like it wants to go to a higher ring. The cogs are working fine, up and down.
I realized that I had bought the wrong derailleur. I bought the Deore M4120 which is for 2×10 systems. So Is this causing the problem or is it something else? I ask because I’ve seen people on YouTube with the same derailleur in a 1×10 system working fine (apparently though because the music does not allow me to hear the system).

Could be a [chainline issue](https://www.oneupcomponents.com/pages/understanding-chainline-for-optimal-1x-conversions-boost-and-non-boost)?
The top jockey wheel is rubbing the largest gear I believe, add some b screw tension to pull the jockey wheel away from the cassette.
What exactly did you replace? Is the chain 10 speed compatible? Your chain looks too short. Is chainring wide-narrow? I believe your derailleur is fine.
It looks like you did the thing.
There’s a little metal tab and it looks like your chain is on the wrong side of it.
