Dear bike wrenchers,
The last bike I was working has the following problem: after replacing the old and worn out chain with a new KMC 8-speed one the chain slips but only on the smallest two rear cogs and especially when on the smallest chain ring. The new chain has exactly the same links as the old one but is approximately 1 link shorter.
Is this normal and does the new chain need to wear a little bit or is there something wrong with the chain tension or derailleur settings? The teeth of the cassette does not seems to be worn out.
The bike is already back to the customer but I’m not happy with this result. Uniglide cassettes are not made anymore I think but according to Sheldon Brown, converting to modern freehub is possible.
