FROM DARTMOOR to a DEAD END

**Scroll down for time stamps**

Many moons ago Mister Dave made a comment on one of my videos saying “what we need is a gateway with a ???”. I have wanted to make that wish come true ever since.

So aboard The Witch my Royal Enfield Himalayan I leave a wintry Dartmoor behind me and make my way to Brixton near Plymouth, encountering an unusual bike and some city traffic along the way. I found this particular gateway when I was working in the area and after studying a map I could see the road comes very close to an estuary. I thought I would ride down as close to it as I could but sadly there was no way through. But the main objective I am pleased to say was complete. I’m delighted to be able to share this very special gateway with you, and to have finally fulfilled Mister Dave’s wish was overwhelming.

  1. Hi Jeff you were in my part of the world, The river estuary was The River Yealm of which the mouth is very near to Wembury Beach. The old Quarry was Steer Point Brickworks Factory which was in production up to sometime in the naughties. My friend work there for 26 years in the quarry extracting stone and also worked in the factory as well for a time up until its close. They made millions of bricks in the day.

  2. G’day mate, some priddy again throughout this true blue video. Strange thing for me to say, however somehow I feel a little homesick watching you ride through these beautiful areas. I really can’t wait to return. I honestly feel more at home in your part of the world than where my digs are here. I believe a gateway with a who??, as you give a review🤔… even one with hullabaloo would match methinks 😂. If my cunning plan works my new bike should be introduced to her brother & sisters next Saturday. I will send you a message if my plan works. G’day to…. Ummmmm…. Oh yeah, Twinks 🫣🤣🤣. Shiny side up mate. Bah Bah & Hooroo for now 🏍🏍😎

  3. That moded scooter is superb. Once in a lifetime discovery but effective for the UK weather for sure 🛵🛺 hybrid 😁😁. In fact there are few factory models BMW C1 and Benelli Adiva (convertable) for example. They even have wipers 😁😁

  4. Well, that was different! I smiled when Dave came bimbling across the screen early on….. I spat my coffee when he came back again at the end!! 🤣🤣 The bridge at the beginning? Gateways x2 ….. 😛

  5. The gateway picture at the begging I thought had to be a gateway with a bridge, upon further reflection I thought twin gateways with some fish 😂 returning an area to nature is re-wilding. It's a pity you couldn't get down to the estuary but here in my part of the world the most of the road would be Private. A gateway with a Pew indeed, splendid place to sit and reflect. As for the scooter with a roof, it looked like a two wheeler pram 🤔😮🙄

  6. That was very lovely and Mr. Dave looked like he enjoyed it 😂 The first was a Gateway with a bridge but not much rhymes with that. A gateway with a fridge, a gateway with a midge, a gateway with a ridge or a gateway with a pidge ( wot I call pidgeons). Well done Mr. Dave for thinking of pew.😊
Dartmoor is much priddy in the snow 🏔🗻☃️

  7. I think we should all get that scooter! Think of all the camera angles we could get! Enjoy the rest of your Sunday my friend. While I edit another one with failed outcome. You will see

  8. I reckon that scooter with the cover was for when he takes his young bullock for a walk in the countryside. Dartmoor's looking as beautiful as ever, not so good when you're stuck up there in that white stuff though!
    Nice bimble buddy, stay safe.

  9. Beautifully crafted as usual. What an exquisite little place to rest and be thankful. What sandwich did you have ? “Tu——na”? Gateway with a view, pew, brew and Tu——na sandwich. ? Almost perfect

  10. No I hate snow so much🤣
    That ped🤣
How rude, they should have moved when you showed up, do they not know who you are🤣
What do you think of that 😂 I'm genuinely stunned, fair play minster Dave 👏
Great video mate, hope you are doing well.

  11. Thanks for making my wish come true Jeff! We need more benches by gateways to take in the views. I suspect that private land at the end of the lane was part of the Flete Estate that Old Wild & Free was on about in one of his exploratory videos in that area🙂

  12. Lovely video 📹…every gateway should have a strategically placed pew..! At least you had some sunshine…i had a nice ride today around the lanes of West Sussex, but my flask and lunch was in the pouring rain sheltering under an old Oak tree! I shall be rewatching your Ireland videos over the winter !! Cheers Steve 💚

  13. ah ha — er's new ride in that lay by ;;; that looked like an ambulance going across the moor ;; it would need to be for me in that cold – not a tesco van ;;;; had to type in brixton to find that place , – but was able to street view the dead end and go back up the road to the two 'pews ' sitted for a view ,,, the first one just looked at the hedge l;;;;;;

  14. A gateway with a pew ?
I can’t even find a gateway, never mind a gateway with something !
Honestly, every ride I am looking for a gateway worth the name but so far, not a chance !
A rope or a chain across is as good as it gets around here, apparently 🤷‍♂️
You wouldn’t earn much as a gate salesman around here.
    The quest continues.
Cheers Jeff and thanks to Dave for the suggestion 👍
Love to you both and Twinks of course 😉
    Garry & Ruby ❤🐕

  15. Have only just watched this. Pleased to see return of gateway with a view, around the the places I used to ride on my first bike – cb100n – the bit of Plympton where I was brought up, bits of dartmoor and the roads out towards Brixton.
In case you didn't know over- the-top pasties are now in Calstock, there's a sign in the centre of the village pointing to the house. And places to sit, views of Devon.

  16. Oh, you are so guilty!!! This one was so beautiful I had to watch the Gateway With A Brook and of course the outro, twice. I'm huddled in a motel in southern Texas for a few weeks while the cold temperatures roll over me and then next year I'll head north as the thermometer rises. In the meantime, I might get to watch a couple of SpaceX Starship launches. Thanks for sharing some more stunningly beautiful countryside.

  17. A gateway with an H2O?
I used to falloff my first KTM on an MX track in Brixton when I was back in the RN down there 😀
    Can't beat a gateway with a pew…. better than a gateway with a peugh 💩
