I inherited this bike after my good friend died, and I’m interested in bike packing. Is this bike a good model for 1-2 day camping trips? Or should I accept the L?

That could be made to work for an overnighter. Just start short and work your way up. I’d avoid rough trails as the bike wouldn’t last, especially with extra weight.
Also remove that front reflector before it tries and kills you and destroys a spoke.

Looks like a great bike, plenty of mounting points for racks, maybe consider changing a saddle to something more premium and handlebar grips for more confort if you feel pain riding it.

It’s fine.
Our bikepacking crew includes a current Canyon gravel bike, an early 90’s Norco Bigfoot (all original, stock), a department store steel 10-speed and a couple of other 90’s x-bike types. Week long bikepack trips are not a problem.

Good bike. I did weeks of bikepacking on worse bikes. Honor the gift you inherited, use it, care for it, enjoy it.

The best bike is the one you have.
