Hey guys,

I know I am not the first to ask this but I really feel lost here.

I plan on getting a new bike. I am not sure yet if it will be a hardtail or a gravel. I guess I will open a second thread on /r/whichbike. But if I do get a gravelbike it most definitely will be a Grizl.

Unfortunately, I missed the recent sale. But even If I would order today, I am not sure which size to get. My other bike is a Orbea Orca road bike (in size 55) so I want the gravel to be relaxed and comfy.

With 1,84 m and 85 cm inseam I have very short legs and a loooong torso (just like my dachshund). According to Canyons size list I am exactly in the middle between M and L. I chatted with them and they said I can use both… so no really help here.

I used [myvelofit.com](https://myvelofit.com) to fit my road bike with good results. They also offer sizing for a new bike. The clearly suggest the L and even rule out the M.

But on the other hand, every recommendation I found only (and especially here) said that one should go M with similar meassurements.

So as I said, I am lost here.

I compared the geo to two gravel bikes I already had and I know that the fit well. The Orbea Terra M in L and the Cube Nuroad C62 in L. Please see the results attached. The Grizl in M almost overlaps the Terra in L – and since I liked the Terra the M should be a good fit?

What do you guys think?

  1. Go smaller if you’re between sizes. I was right on the switchover for my Grizl and couldn’t be happier with the smaller size

  2. With a long torso I’d go L but it probably depends on arm length as well at this point. I like large at 1,86m but have much longer limbs. My gf at 1,80m has an M, it feels really small to me. You can always shorten the stem from 90-80mm on the L or lengthen it on an M if the reach doesn’t work out. For this reason I’d still want the L for stack. I flipped my stem to get my bars higher because the canyons are quite aggressive. In hindsight I would’ve preferred something with geo like the kona libre which has much more stack for more challenging terrain and bikepacking.
If you plan to race on it maybe an M makes sense for a deeper cockpit and more aero feel.
