I got these 100% marino wool sweaters from mens wear house for $20.00 on sale from $40.00. The black one got a hole in it after a few washes. I was looking at getting a thick 400 g marino base layer for a ton of money, I figured why not just try these.
They are super warm. Idk what thickness they would be gram wise, but they are thicker than my 200 g marino smartwool bottoms. Yes they are baggy but compress into my thermal jersey anyway.
I’d say what I would get for spending on a 400 g tech dedicated base layer is durability, comfort, and maybe some weight? But for 20$ these have kept me warm in 25° with thermal and wind jacket on top.
