I just set up this deore 1×10 group with an 11-46 cassette. The derailleur seems to sit very close to the cassette. When I shift into the 5-6 gear the chain gets stuck/jammed against the backside of the derailleur (where the cable clamps down). What am I doing wrong? Is the chain too long/short? Am I setting it up wrong?

How did you size the chain?
Most likely culprit would be a chain that’s too long or an incorrect B gap.
Bent hanger?
Agreeing with u/CargoPile1314 and u/boopiejones that the chain length and b-tension are likely not set correctly yet – but also I’d check that the derailliuer has been tightened down onto the hanger in the correct alignment.
The fact the cage appears to be being pulled directly towards the ground rather than down and towards the crankset indicates the its not sitting properly.
