Both bikes have what I want, fender mounts on both front and rear.
The surly has a nicer paint job the white or blue preamble at least from pictures look very well done, it’s like they painted it a hundred times in thick expensive paint and then 100 coats of gloss, I never seen the surly preamble or any surly in person but looking at it from pics it looks so rich and glossy
I should mention the dry season I will use my racing bike a Cannondale Super Six Evo, so this Surly or Priority 8 will be used strictly in rainy season.
They both look so beautiful I cannot decide, the gates carbon belt drive of the Priority 8 is what has me leaning to the 8, those things last forever and require no maintenance
I already have the priority brilliant cooper but they sold me the wrong size frame its too large they asked for my inseam and sold me a large even tho I used medium bikes all my life. Also the 3 speed Nexus gearbox is kinda slow
But something about how beautiful the surly paint looks really has me edging to the Surly, I am even considering buying the white surly frame and building a bike from scratch as I have plenty experience in servicing my other bikes I have gotten good at it over the years.
There is Surly with Avid BB7 a Blue frame with Flat Bar handle, that one is also on my list AND if I want in future I could just add a drop bar handle to it and an 11 speed drive train to boot.
Let me know what you guys think about the flat bar preamble in blue and how that blue looks in real life.
Also where Can I buy it? I may end up having to get Chain Wax and start waxing my chains so I can get chain life similar to a gates carbon.
or do you all think I should spring for the white drop bar preamble for the $1300? I kinda prefer the blue paint which only comes with flat bar and in future putting in a Carbon Fiber Drop bar 1 piece stem and handle and building a dynamo Hub in future
On the other hand the white is already a roadbike from the get go right out of the box which I do prefer due to the distance I am doing a drop bar feels a lot better than flat.
And I love mechanical brakes it’s so easy to adjust no bleeding etc. Avid BB7 from what I was told is the gold standard of mechanical disc brakes?

I’d get the Priority if I were you.

If you want beautiful and belt drive, and doesn’t everyone, consider a Spot Bikes Acme in Shelby Blue. That will give you a bit more gear range, too. And hey, the titanium Apollo is $1K off today.

I have an Apollo (which I realize is different from the eight) but the belt drive IGH is PHENOMENAL. The lack of maintenance is beyond worth it. And priority has been just awesome to deal with

I’ve had a Priority Continuum Onxy for two years now and I absolutely love it. It has a different hub, comes with fenders and lights, but it’s basically the same bike. I’m a daily commuter, riding about 3,500 miles a year.
The belt drive is phenomenal. Very nearly zero maintenance from the belt, to the gears, to the hydraulic brakes and all the rest. It’s dead reliable.
I’m right on the edge of ordering a Priority Hot Sauce, just because I want it.
