Was given this early 80s stumpjumper under the promise I let the owner ride it once it’s built. I know it’s gotta be early with the unicrown fork and Mafac cantis but it’s not lugged so I’m at a loss. It’s mostly incomplete aside from the right hand tomaselli brake lever and the brakes but it’s my size (21’) so I’ll consider it a big win. I included a pic of the vin so maybe one of you folks can give me an idea. Also please share how you’d build it.

With the list of serial numbers on this site its a 1982 model.
This is a very rare bike, but worth a lot more the more original you can get it, and IMO you should try to keep it as original as possible with parts.

What’s the plan here? Period correct resto? Fuck it all and 1x and disc brakes? I would love to resto this. Maybe leave the paint as is. Radavist has done some really nice vintage MTB restorations, a time pit but I think this frame deserves it.

Build it so you ride it. This bike is in need of an owner. I built a K2 blakely, it’s ok with some friction levers off a $0 used bike shop bike.
