Councils will have to consider whether residents support Low Traffic Neighbourhoods (LTN) in their area before going ahead with schemes.

LTNs are designed to encourage cycling and walking by limiting driving in side roads and include segregated cycle lanes, wider pavements and barriers to restrict vehicles.

These bards and flower beds are far from decorative they’re barriers to enforce ltns or low trffic neighborhoods designed to redirect traffic and get more of us out and about and they’ve been around this area of Hackney for over 50 years they allow um easier ways to be healthy to get about um they

Provide quiet and neighborhoods bards like this they stop motor traffic from going through they enable lots of bikes there don’t they lots of bikes uh lots of families they enable that kind of travel active travel uh to take place um previously this road would have would have taken several thousand motor

Vehicles um a day and we wouldn’t have seen this level of cycling and while there are about 300 ltns across the country such as these in Oxford Hackney has some of the highest rates covering about 70% of Roads is about a A system that means that councils properly

Balance the needs of motorists and other Road users not an antim motor scheme pitting different Road users against each other is not helpful and not sensible that’s what we’re trying to stop as witnessed in stram South London last October where the new traffic routes caused such Chaos on the streets

That bus drivers reported threemile Journeys took over an hour back in Hackney for environment activist CLA ltns of bad news within three months of H having to live day and night with displaced traffic I was actually put on an inhaler what we got was a shifting of traffic onto poorer people’s roads

Taking it from rich people and putting it on to white workingclass people black people brown people and so with the public still splits over the effectiveness of ltns the future of low traffic neighborhoods is anything but certain sa chry Sky News

  1. Spend a small fortune on installation and upkeep of Ltn,s. Now suddenly they realise that ltns don't give the results expected. Spend another small fortune removing them. Had the council listened to the public they might have saved a lot of time and money.

  2. How about holding councils directly responsible for implementing diktats from unelected MPs? How about propartionate accountability for their crimes against us? They know exactly what they're doing, they know it's directly opposite to what people want, yet they don't expect any direct and severe backlash directly by the people they abuse, really? The councils are the executive Brownshirts, the one's who willingly and knowingly follow and implement those inhuman diktats. And they're paid well for doing so. Should these Brownshirts be allowed to keep what they're paid and own from their twenty pieces of silver? How about they lose everything they own for their dedicated work against the vast majority of British people? In the coming difficulties this and much more will take place. They won't be able to stop it, nothing they do will prevent it. That's why it must happen, to redress the theft, for justice, to clearly illustrate what happens when someone betrays the British people.

  3. Oh right so let me get this straight – before the council do something which no one wants they have to consider local support. We live in a democracy – so that's what they should be doing. The news article should be about dictatorial council doing what they want and what is going to be done to stop it.

  4. Translation : councils will have to make it appear that people agree with their freedom of movement being restricted with rigged surveys and 'public' consultations.

  5. No one has thought about accessibility for wheelchair users and people that can’t walk very far and need to use cars to help get about. It is not lowering emissions at all, it is just making more and more congestion and travel time quadrupling

  6. I live in Oxford and this scheme has created gridlock traffic due to redirecting all traffic to a single road. It seems a lot more pollution is caused than prevented.

  7. Its absolutely useless, they tried putting them in our area, we fought hard against them and won. They cause more problems than resolutions

  8. This is so wrong, they don’t have any rights to force ppl to stop using cars. It’s should be only optional. This is eco scam.

  9. The WEF agenda.
This was pushed back against in Oxford when they tried to implement the 15 min city and the public destroyed the barriers blocking traffic.
They rebranded it to LTN now sly news try to misslead us into thinking the LTN started in Hackney 50 years ago.
    Pull the other one.
    Fake news.

  10. With all the problems going on around the country, THIS is what they're focusing on. Honestly, every council in the country needs to be dissolved and replaced. Nobody else, in any other job, could do what they've done and still keep it.

  11. Councils are meant to consult and get opinion from residents in the first place. We don't live in a democracy and its all corrupt as hell. We, the people are never listened to and these councillors need to be sacked mate.

  12. These schemes are pointless and do not achieve the goal.

Local economies will collapse, those that can will move out, air pollution will increase as vehicles produce more carbon at lower speeds and whilst stationary.

These types of policies will have zero effect on the current climate issues. They do not reduce the amount of greenhouse gases already in the atmosphere that are causing extreme weather events today!

  13. Low traffic neighbourhoods means more traffic in other neighbourhoods and concentration of pollution in those areas – it also forces cars to be on the road longer which is just stupid if the goal is “environmental”.
