

There’s like maybe 1/8” clearance between bolt head and tire. Some of the teeny rubber hairlike tread bits even touch it as they spin past. Am I right in thinking this is sketchy? And, best way to remove the bolt and keep the whole covered (if that’s needed)? Thanks!

You could replace it with a grub screw and tighten that down flush with the top (bottom, in this case) of the boss to keep the threads intact.
Not for long, it will file itself down nicely 😛

Nah that’s fine, you only need a few mm clearance.
Realistically mud can’t get caught here anyway because it would have been flung off. If you’re really worried slap a bit of tape or a button head in.
I replaced mine with a set screw and run 2.3s on it. Also checked a 2.5 and it cleared with the wheel all the way forward.
I mean, is the bolt doing anything? Just take it out
