I am planning a 6-7 week bikepacking trip to Peru & Bolivia for myself and my partner, starting May 2024.

We are giving ourselves at least 7 days in La Paz to acclimate. We currently live at sea level.

We are planning to do parts of: [https://bikepacking.com/routes/la-gira-de-sur-yungas/](https://bikepacking.com/routes/la-gira-de-sur-yungas/)

And then a small portion (Huaraz to Oyon) of the Great Peru Divide: [https://bikepacking.com/routes/peru-great-divide/](https://bikepacking.com/routes/peru-great-divide/)

Am I crazy for planning and trying to execute this? We are in good shape, can bike 4-5k elevation in a day. We did a 7 day bikepack in Vietnam last year. The main concern is the altitude, as we are not acclimated at all.

Our plan is to spend the last two weeks of April in Jackson, WY to acclimate and train, and then the 7 days in May in La Paz.

Am I setting us up for failure? Would appreciate any tips or any input at all.
