Please be patient with me. I have never gravel biked, but may soon be entering the sport. My friend has been gravel biking and last season we found that he was starting to blow our doors off while mountain biking. His climbing endurance was ridiculous. He chalked it up to gravel and doing long sustained climbs instead of the burst/rest you get with mountain biking. So now I’m very interested in joining.

A friend of a friend is willing to sell his 2021 Diverge Carbon Sport. He says it’s 100% stock and didn’t change or upgrade anything. He also said that the drive train needs replacing. The front chainring was damaged and a bit bent with a couple teeth missing. The rear derailleur has been damaged as well and probably needs replacing as well.

I’ve haven’t really rode or dealt with a 2×11. I started biking just as 1×12’s were coming in, and I honestly love them. I have never had a chain come off mountain biking. So I’m wondering what are peoples thoughts on the 1x’s? I see the newer Diverge’s have 1×11’s. So is it worth the upgrade?

I live in BC/Kootenays and most of our riding is hills and logging roads with some single track and I don’t see myself ever riding on pavement much. So I’d trade speed for climbing any day. That being said, my mtb’s ratio is 28×52 on the granny and I love it. Would the same type of gearing be suitable.

Anyways, I’d love to hear opinions and some technical knowhow. Cheers

This is one of the mellower (as in terrain, not distance/elevation. This ride would be a beast)) rides people do. And some of them do the bike camping thing and combine in the rail trail.
