I have a high spec aluminum endurance bike and a budget steel gravel bike with 650b. I really have fallen in love with the gravel bike since getting it. There’s something about the classic look of the frame that appeals to me even though it’s a tank. So, I’m looking for a steel all-rounder that’s the best of both my current bikes – something that I will take on gravel and road rides with friends and bikepacking trips (low on singletrack).
My top picks so far are the Mod Zero and La Cabra but I’m leaning Mod Zero since I plan to mostly be riding forest dirt and gravel roads and not singletrack. Also open to any other frame – doesn’t have to be Black Mountain Cycles. Just want no-nonsense frame – no proprietary surly dropouts etc.

I know a local guy who does about 500 miles a week on a Black Mountain.
I asked this question on gravel biking:

have an All City Space Horse, and I love it. It’s a great all purpose bike. I’m looking at switching over to a Pelago Stavanger. Both have standard standard thru axles. Fit wide tires.
