Hey there! I’m planning to bike from Boulder, Colorado to Anchorage, Alaska this summer, and I’d love to get feedback on my [draft route plan](https://ridewithgps.com/routes/45847987). I’m hoping to take the GDMBR from Colorado to Calgary, and from there I’ve stitched together a series of roads that seem like they get bike traffic based on heatmaps in RideWithGPS. I’m most uncertain about the section through BC, since there’s less information readily available online about road conditions and possible routes. Have you ridden a similar route before? Do you know someone who has? Are there any major shifts I should make to my itinerary?

**A few specific questions:**

* A lot of the itineraries I’ve seen take the Alaska Highway from Calgary through BC, but poking around on Google Earth the Yellowhead Highway seems more scenic and still reasonable. Is there a reason folks opt for the Alaska Highway instead?
* Is the Yellowhead Highway relatively safe/not totally heinous for cyclists? Shoulders from street view look small but manageable, and I have a fairly high tolerance for road riding.
* Are there other more scenic options? Detours I should take? Stops you’d recommend?

Any and all thoughts, resources and suggestions are appreciated! Thanks so much!
