Hey, everyone! On my favorite bicycle to ride, my right side crank gets loose like clockwork after about 5 miles. I’ve read that once it’s driven while loose, it’s probably shot, so I need to replace the crank. This doesn’t seem like a problem, but it dawned on me that my right crank is attached to the chainring (not positive of the term), and it looks like a lot of cranks are sold by themselves. I was wondering if anybody knew where to go from here, or ideas of what I could order? Thank you so much!

1. Almost certainly your right crankset will not be able to stay mounted on your bottom bracket spindle. So you will need a new crankset (crankarms plus chainrings).
2. If you can find the exact same crankset, you just bolt it on and you’re done. But if you buy a different crankset that takes a square spindle bottom bracket, it have a different offset which means that your chainrings may be too far away or too close to the frame. If that’s the case, then you’ll also need a new bottom bracket that fits both the crankset and your frame.
