Hey there im building a hardrock up. Its time to get the cable to my brakes but i dont have a cable stop fornthe rear canti. Just this tube picture.
My question is, does the cable just go through or is there suppose to be some sort of housing/guard/protection in there?
Thanks for the time

If it was already setup bare, I wouldn’t lose any sleep over it. When recabling, I always throw a short piece of cable liner in there. Jagwire makes rolls of it, even though you only need a couple inches. Make sure you get brake cable liner, the shift one will be too small.
Needs cable liner. You don’t need to buy it, you can just harvest it from 5mm shift housing. Take a 12″ or so long piece, carefully make a lengthwise slit with a razor, then whip it hard against a surface and it will all splay out and you can easily get your piece.
My Trek 750 had the same setup and came with cable liner, which I always replaced.
