Currently looking for a touring bike ahead of a months long tour later this year in Europe or US. I really like the look of this custom Genesis Equilibrium [here](https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/256305627794?_trkparms=amclksrc%3DITM%26aid%3D1110006%26algo%3DHOMESPLICE.SIM%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D259212%26meid%3D5c6cea3b136e4699890f27977e429ce5%26pid%3D101195%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D12%26sd%3D364725982919%26itm%3D256305627794%26pmt%3D1%26noa%3D0%26pg%3D4429486%26algv%3DSimplAMLv11WebTrimmedV3MskuWithLambda85KnnRecallV1V2V4ItemNrtInQueryAndCassiniVisualRankerAndBertRecallWithVMEV3CPCAutoWithCassiniEmbRecallManual%26brand%3DGenesis&_trksid=p4429486.c101195.m1851&itmprp=cksum%3A2563056277945c6cea3b136e4699890f27977e429ce5%7Cenc%3AAQAIAAABcKAO6YGL7I8ZT6VFWcHmDuKm898HGH9cNRsnG%252Fep%252BzC3UPHwPSmfpPq3b41cHxht%252FCiwo5DdbtiFsRNqRhAUlK8x2MLrmISu5pnzSn%252FhiW3P7y%252BKcxGllTjL%252BG3bIP4k8fGgzCrVY1dxXbjuBFp3vefxTYgjBXBRUWQBgGciI%252FuQ5Mjsfl%252B%252FiL4cv70dT88jKzNluJOvSBWIzDL9FBPg3S5SHUspHeoA3qkGJj%252FFpJtMsSBtDetC%252FHf7D4OawURSUNRifc2xn0G77AGysQ9R1yvvCzZ6Md1gW9ysyIIjiTWbXNz3qwU%252Fa24AVbZPkv1mD8aIiiQdo0rxmOiedWZlNSxAHQ%252F%252BSRsYkkv4Q%252BQpGPpcL9%252FKAlXMX%252F2e69l36lZMwjcRCrGjRNpJD91c65zwiLCyXzk7qQ4KtHrXn2%252BiQbGPEDIlvpCbuHf6zfYxdO6J8inl9v3xYRFo0%252BMaluSwvhzPuLTKDtpJ095dQcerRqo0%7Campid%3APL_CLK%7Cclp%3A4429486&itmmeta=01HRSJHEN1JXZJKQDWTCD7PY2X).
Ticks a lot of boxes for me in that it looks perfect to adopt as as a day-to-day commuter bike once the tour is over. Great for getting round the city all seasons with the dynamo and everything. I get out to nearby Lake District and Peak District on weekends too for some racier road riding so the road-bike geometry of the equilibrium suits for that too.
However, the road-like geometry of it maybe doesn’t lend itself to longer term touring. Once fully loaded I’d be worried about clearance to panniers and smoothness of the ride. Does anyone have any experience of using anything similar for a tour? Any advice you can give?
I’ve had my current Boardman ADV 8.9 ([here](https://www.boardmanbikes.com/gb_en/products/2332-adv-8.9-2021.html)) for 8 years and have loved it to death. All seasons commuting, light touring with frame bags on weekend to week-long trips, and a few sportives. The aluminium frame seems not best suited for a longer heavier loaded trip so feel its time for an upgrade. Maybe I’m asking a bit too much in looking for a true all-rounder.
Money’s not really an issue but I just don’t have space for more than one bike.
