The Marshall at the mount line once you have arrived at the venue the first thing you need to do is head to registration please follow the Marshall’s instructions when you leave the car park walk down the outside of the track and only cross the racetrack and enter the race Village at the

Designated Crossing Point you’ll see registration straight ahead of you inside a gazebo here our volunteers will get you all set up for your race in order to make everything as e easy as possible please make sure you bring the following things with you some photographic ID for example a passport or a driving

License a copy of your current race license if you are a member of triathon Scotland Triathlon England or Welsh Triathlon and if you are student please bring a copy of your matriculation card we’re happy to see physical or digital copies of any of these documents so for

Example a photo on your phone is perfectly acceptable once we’ve checked you in you’ll receive your race number as well as a set of stickers for your bike and helmet and a timing chip our volunteers will keep you right and show you where all of these go your race number needs

To be clearly visible at all times and warn to the front while you’re running and to the back while you’re cycling the easiest way to do this is using an elasticated race belt around your waist please ensure you bring one with you or you’ve purchased one from us prior to

The event if you ordered an event t-shirt or a race belt along with your entry you can collect both of these at registration after registration please head to transition to Rack your bike and set up your equipment when you enter transition you will need to have your helmet on and the

Strap clipped up a race official will check your helmet and your bike before directing you to your transition rack please find your space identified with eras number and rack your bike by hanging it from the saddle with the handlebars facing towards you it is likely that there will be other athletes

Racing whilst you are racking a bike so please follow the instructions at all times and be careful not to impede any other athletes please only leave the equipment you require for the race in transition any bags or spare clothing can be left at the bagd drop in the registration

Tent please label your bag using the race number sticker provided at registration a reminder that transition closes 15 minutes before the start of your race here you can see a map of transition with bike racks numbered 1 to 300 during the race at the end of the first

Run follow signs for transition and enter through the runin entrance follow the numbering system to locate your bike you must ensure your helmet is fully fastened before you remove your bike from the rack you then leave transition by running with your bike through the bike out exit do not Mount your bike until

You have placed at least one foot across the mount line which will be clearly marked towards the end of your final bike lap keep left on the racetrack and again follow signs for transition you must Dismount from your bike with at least one foot touching the ground before the Dismount line which

Again will be clearly marked run with your bike and enter transition through the bike in entrance follow the same numbering system to original racking space your helmet must remain fastened until after you have placed your bike on the rack then exit transition via the run out exit and head onto the Run course

For your final run we’ll now move on to look at the course itself it’s difficult to show detailed versions of the maps in this video so I would suggest that you look at them more carefully in the athlete information document they are also all available to download from our

Website there will be large versions of the map on display at the venue itself and the course will be clearly marked with arrows and marshal at key points starting with run one the first run is two laps for the adult non-drafting and draft legal races each

Lap is 2.5 km meaning that run one is 5 km in total the lap distances for the junior races are shorter with the TriStar one lap being 500 M the trar 2 lap being 700 M the trar 3 lap being 900 M and the youth lap being 1100 M the Run takes

Place entirely on tarmac and is essentially an out and back course with the turnaround points for the junior races occurring much sooner than for the adult race at the end of each lap you will reach a set of barriers with the following three signs on it at the end

Of the first lap you will do a 180 dead turn and continue on to the second lap and at the end of the second lap you will make a 90° right turn to head into transition via the runin entrance we’ll move on now to look at the bike course the bike course consists

Of laps of the motor racing Sur each lap is 2.3 km after crossing the mount line and getting onto your bike you will join the race track as you do so just be aware of cyclists who are already racing arriving over your right hand shoulder however the track is 11 M

Wide and so there is plenty of space for everybody the tarmac is really smooth and none of the corners are particularly technical however the first corner you come to is a sharp left hand turn and there will be a warning sign before beforehand and the last Corner before

You complete your lap is a chicane again there will be a warning sign that this is approaching the adult non-drafting and draft legal races all consist of nine laps of the course whereas the junior races are much shorter the triar one is a single lap of the bike course

Triar two is two laps triar three is three laps and the youth is six laps a reminder that we are not able to count the number of laps for you and so it is really important that you have a system that allows you to ensure you’ve completed the correct number of

Laps or you use a GPS device to record your distance and make sure you’ve done enough we do have a timing mat that will confirm that you’ve completed the correct number of laps at the end of the race as you get towards the end of your

Last lap you need to keep left and follow the signs for the Dismount line there will be a warning sign 50 m before the Dismount line and the Dismount line itself will be clearly marked on the ground you need to make sure you have one foot on the ground before the

Dismount line and then you run with your bike towards transition and enter via the bike in entrance after you’ve racked your bike and exited transition you’ll move on to your final run run two this is on exactly the same Run course as run one instead this time it consists of only

One lap the lap distances for the adult and Junior races are are exactly the same as run one meaning that the adult race run two is 2.5 km long again when you get to the end of your lap On The Run course you will see these three signs attached to some

Barriers this time at the end of the second run you will head straight on down through the finish suot and cross the finish line a quick note at this point to say there isn’t an aid station on the course we suggest that if you want any hydration or nutrition during your race

That you carry this on your bike when you cross the finish line there will be water infinite and brw bars available for postrace refueling we’ll move on now to have a look at some of the rules which are specific to draft legal racing obviously in draft legal racing you can ride close

To other Riders and get a drafting benefit as you ride behind them in terms of the rules the key things are around the equipment when it comes to the bike firstly you are not allowed any try or Arrow bars including short clipon Arrow bars and whilst riding you must ensure

That your hands are either on the hoods or the drops at all time you are not allowed to ride with your forearms resting on the handlebars disc wheels are not permitted and your wheels must have a minimum of 12 spokes you need to remove any water bottles from behind

Your saddle and the ends of your handlebars must be plugged when it comes to the riding itself because you are riding in a group with others it’s important that you do what you can to keep yourself safe and avoid crashes this means that you should avoid suddenly changing speed or Direction and

If you find yourself in a situation where you are being overtaken by a group of faster athletes keep riding the normal racing line and allow them to pass you on the outside when you are riding in a group with others avoid overlapping wheels and use your voice to

Communicate it’s important to say that when you first join the bike course you are not allowed to draft off competitors who are on a different lap from you if you have entered the non-drafting race the rules around the bike equipment don’t apply and you are allowed to ride

Time trial or Titi bikes if you wish however importantly you are not allowed to gain an advantage by drafting off other athletes this means that while you are cycling you must keep a minimum of 10 M behind the athlete in front if you wish to overtake another

Athlete you have 20 seconds in which to do so if you cannot make the pass in that time you must drop back and remain 10 m behind them if you are overtaken by another cyclist it is then your responsibility to drop back until you there is a 10 m

Gap if you have any questions about these rules around non-drafting racing please do speak to any of our race officials on the day who will happily clarify them with you all of the races will be conducted under British Triathlon competition rules the link to access these rules is

Available in the description below if you have any questions on the day of the race our race officials at registration or transition will be more than happy to answer your questions there are a couple of important rules I’d like to highlight at this stage firstly littering is not allowed

Anywhere on the course including in transition anyone found to be littering will unfortunately be disqualified secondly please note that abusive Behavior or language towards race officials volunteers or other competitors will not be tolerated and will also result in disqualification finally failure to complete the correct number of laps on

The bike course will result in a penalty of 10 minutes for each lap it is your responsibility to count your own laps the marshals unfortunately are not able to do this for you so I would suggest ensuring you have a good system for doing this or using a GPS device to

Ensure you have cycled the correct distance before entering transition if you do receive any penalties these will be displayed next to the timing van at the finish line if you wish to appeal any penalty please speak to one of the tri on Scotland technical officials within 60 Minutes of the completion of your

Race after you cross the finish line you will receive your finishers medal if you requested one at the time of entering one of our photographers will then take your your finishes photo your individual result will be immediately available from the timing van and provisional results will be uploaded to the perfect timing website

As soon as possible a link to this will be sent out the day before the race prize givings will take place after each race and final results will be uploaded to our website on the evening of the race itself because of the nature of the course the East Fortune draon is a very

Spectator friendly event and our race Village provides a lively atmosphere and a great vantage point from which to watch the race we will have catering provided by we green events with tea coffee breakfast rolls pizza rice bowls tacos and flatbreads all available the are portable toilets available for all competitors and
