I just got this Pelaga rack and didn’t realize it was so narrow when I ordered it through my LBS. It’s about 3.5″ wide by the saddle and 4″ wide at the rear.
The trunk bag I’ve got doesn’t feel stable at all (and is basically cheap Amazon garbage to start with) so I’m looking for recommendations.
I don’t mind Velcro, but the vast majority of bags with Velcro are either too wide (because the straps are fastened solely to the outsides of the bag) or are not any more stable than the cheap bag I have that loops solely underneath the rack.
What I’m hoping for is a rack with Velcro straps that are sewn into the bottom and come up around the rack rails and attach to the sides. If that even makes sense. And so many of the bags I’m looking at online just don’t have pictures of the bottom of their bags!
I don’t plan on removing the bag once it’s in place so portability is not a concern. I’ve got one Ortlieb pannier and will probably pick up another so I don’t need anything huge, I’d just like a simple trunk bag for small things I don’t want to toss in the big pannier.
The rack is beautiful but I wish they had mentioned it was going to be this narrow. I foolishly assumed it would be the same width as basically every other rack I’ve ever had and feel a bit like a dolt.
