Looking for my first adult bike and know very little about bicycling. Primarily using it as a commuter in Seattle, but I can envision a world where I use it for bikepacking or for longer rides on the weekends (I’m a big runner but could be sold on using a bike for cross-training). Hoping to spend less than $1000. Eventually, I’ll put a back rack and some fenders on the bike.
Currently torn between the[Kona Dew Plus](https://www.konaworld.com/products/dew-plus?variant=41029970001964¤cy=USD&utm_medium=product_sync&utm_source=google&utm_content=sag_organic&utm_campaign=sag_organic&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiA6KWvBhAREiwAFPZM7pfV-jQ74EoxeJV-TtAPtUG0bQrgvdSxwDy11RCouWmvPqgBRT0LFBoC-osQAvD_BwE)and the [Surly Preamble.](https://surlybikes.com/bikes/preamble) I’ve read that the Kona has much better components, aside from the frame. However, I like idea of a more classic road geometry in the Preamble if I am to do longer rides… but again, I don’t know much about the sport overall (I also hate to admit it but I’m just drawn to the powder blue color…) I’ve had a chance to ride them both at my LBS and they both feel good! Stand over height on the Surly might get annoying for these short legs but not sure if it will be a deal breaker.
Thanks in advance!

I just did 30 miles in and around Philly on my flat bar preamble. Take at look at my post history for the build. You know where my vote lies.
*Long live the cult of Surly!*
