The most incredible rescue dog story I have ever heard!!!!
Maggie Jo and her partner ( from Chicago) went on a 1500 miles cycling trip around the Europe when one bike broke in the middle of nowhere in MONTENEGRO!!!!!!! 🇲🇪
MY HOME COUNTRY!!! 😭
Stopping at the nearest shop to fix the bike they’ve met the stray dog that would forever changed their lives.
After trying to say goodbye multiple times, this stray dog was pretty sure that she found her humans and just wouldn’t let them go. Not without her.
After 4 days of following them on their bikes for MILES AND MILES, she disappeared.
They thought they lost her but she found their way back to them and they all knew they just wanna be together forever.
Process of bringing stray dog from accross the world to the United States is nothing easy and lasted over a month!
Maggie Jo shares all the details she and her dog needed to through in order for them to travel back to the United States together. She named her dog MONTE after MONTENEGRO, country they found each other and fell in love and now they live happy life full of adventures in Chicago, United States of America. 🇺🇸
😭😭😭😭😭

Oh God I’m so sorry it’s okay you’re not the first one oh my good yeah it was crazy it just it felt like it was like meant to be You how did you bring her from like canot welcome to Puppy Patrol show hello everyone thank you so much for waiting on such a long break on a puppy Patrol show but here we are with your favorite show again your host nean and your co-host that it’s only virtually present again
Even though we are in Chicago Our Guest sometimes does not like other dogs in a car so we made exception for that and then the kale will watching this together with all of you on my YouTube channel so welcome thank you I’m so glad to be here uh thank you so much for
Making this happen and can you please introduce yourself and your adorable pup yeah for sure so I’m Maggie Joe this is Monty my little accomplice and and um yeah we’re here in Chicago We’re very excited okay we got a we got a crazy story to tell you I cannot wait to here
Would you please start telling me of how Monty and you came into each other’s lives okay I’ve been like really excited to tell you this because like out of anyone this makes like the most sense for you cuz you’re from Montenegro which is crazy yes where are you from in
Montenegro so I’m from a Nord side of Montenegro the small city called pla okay that probably nobody knows about you know bar of course it’s like a big city for where I am from okay got you okay so I’ll start in the beginning so okay basically um ma my partner who I
Don’t think you’ve met yet um we were on a cycle tour in Montenegro okay we were actually going through like seven countries we started in Greece we were trying to get to Italy uhhuh um so we had already gone through Alban Greece and Albania and we were in monegro I
Forget the town like the small town where we originally met Monty but but uhhuh um basically nave’s bike was having like mechanical issues uhhuh so we we were like stopped fixing her bike on the side of the road and this little stray dog uhhuh came up to us and like
We had met so many stray dogs that you know how it is over there like there’s so many it’s devastating it’s devastating yeah for sure um but like we we got had got gotten pretty used to it at this point um and like some of them
Were friendly but like I don’t know some of them weren’t so like we kind of kept our distance usually mhm but Machi came up to us and was just like so friendly like a she was like begging for like food and like pets and like we normally
Didn’t like pet the stray dogs but she was just like so cute we couldn’t resist so a I can see why I can totally see why we pet her we gave her like I think like a can of tuna or like whatever we had like in our bag I don’t remember um and
Uh she kind of like hung out with us the whole time we were fixing the bike uh-huh and then we had to like keep biking we had like 15 more miles to bike that day uhh so we’re like okay bye stray dog like it was really nice to
Meet you and we kept biking and she just like followed us and followed us and followed us like she was running basically if you were biking she was running behind you running like sprinting and we kept like turning around and trying to like be like okay
Like we don’t want to displace you like you need to like stay cuz like we can’t I mean we’re on a bike trip like we can’t really do anything for you um but she like persisted and she kept running and running until we got to our campsite
That night which was just like a place in the woods and um we set up our camp we made dinner like we made our tent and she just stayed with us that whole time and then we zipped the tent tent up at night and we’re like she there’s no way
She’ll be here in the morning and we open we open the tent door in the morning she’s just like just like waiting for us we’re like okay so are you going to like keep following us so basically this went on for 4 days of her following our bike
Like this little tiny dog running miles and miles and miles after our bike which is crazy and then on the fourth day of her being with us we ended up in bar uhhuh which we had been in in pretty remote places until then so we like we giving
Her like the food we had but like we only had like so much food on us um but anyway we got to bar and we’re like okay let’s let’s bring her to a vet and just see like maybe we can like get her treated like she had really bad ticks
And fleas and like she was really dirty like she was like a you know a straight dog so we brought her to the vet and the vet um was like are you like trying to keep her or like we’re like we don’t know like probably not but like we at
Least want to get her like treated and like talk about getting her homed and the vet’s like that’s not really like a thing here like there’s so many stray dogs like it’s going to be really hard to find our home MH and at this point point we’re like kind of falling in love
With her because she’s like been with us for so long so we kind of went back to our campsite that night to evaluate and um like on the way back this stray dog kind of went after Monty and it scared her and she like ran away oh and we like
Lost her and we were like oh my God like I guess it wasn’t meant to be like it’s over and then we were like miles from where that happened and Monty was like sitting on this trail that we were walking on we were like oh my God like
She found us like she sniffed her way back to us and she like when she saw us in that moment it was like the happiest we’ve ever seen her ever and we’re like okay like let’s make this happen like she’s our dog now um I think that’s when
We named her oh God I’m so sorry okay you’re not the first one oh my goodness yeah it was crazy it just it felt like it was like meant to be you Know how did you bring her from like canot talk I know it’s crazy oh my God my mom’s going to yell at me why I’ve been crying a lot it’s like on everything it’s okay we we cried too no yeah it was it was crazy so yeah we
Basically decided like in that moment we’re like we’ll make this happen and like we love her like she clearly is making this huge effort to be with us um so we we brought her back to the vet and got her she had like a blood disease
From from the tick and she needed to be spayed oh my God that must made it so much harder to take her to United States like how did that happen right well and we were only like halfway through our bike trip so the vet’s like she’s going
To need to heal for a month from her her treatment and she she needs to quarantine in Montenegro for one month before she can come to the United States mhm and we had to like get her a passport and like it was this whole process but we’re like oh like we
Can’t stay here for a month month on a trip yeah we have four more countries to bike through so the vet hooked us up with this lady named una who she you should like maybe yeah look her up she super cool um but she moved from Ireland
To Montenegro to like take care of the strays and she has like 25 oh wait her she’s not montenegrian no not I know una it’s like it’s the name of the river actually and I I used to go to high school and and middle school with a girl
Named unaa um I think I’m still like like Facebook and Instagram friends with her so I told I assume somebody from Montenegro okay so it’s like woman from the Ireland right originally from Ireland yeah but yeah she moved there and she like is is taking care of all
These stray dogs like on her own she had like 25 dogs at her house that she like paid for them all the stuff and she said she would take Monty for a month for €60 which is crazy oh wow just for like food and stuff it’s like it will end $60
Basically for everyone who doesn’t know how much that is like maybe $70 or something like that yeah it’s like it’s like basically like like it’s just so nice of her to do it’s volunteering yes yeah exactly so Uno took her for a month and like we really we met Uno and we
Like really trusted her and she was like a really nice lady so we we felt really good about that and Ma and I booked it to Italy through four more countries we made it to Venice and we got a call from Uno like Monty’s healed she’s ready to
Go and we’re like okay it’s time like we’re going to book it back to to montro so we took a first a train then we took a a what uh so with no plans of coming back to Montenegro you came just so you can pick her up well we knew we we would
Come back for her we just didn’t know like when it would be yeah but again like you didn’t have a plan of originally going back to the country you visited like you you came just so you can pick her up definitely yeah and uh and how after that it goes like vet the
Release the passport everything that needed to be done right yeah yeah so we had worked out with the vet that we had been working with um to like get us all the paperwork and the and the passport and stuff so we we got back to
Montenegro it was a kind of a crazy trip back there um and we got Mont her passport her paperwork but we still needed to bike from bar to what’s the capital podar yeah we needed a bike there with Monty so we stayed in bar for
A or for a week and trained Monty to ride on my bike oh my God on a crate like a milk crate that that we like found somewhere and and Monty did really well so we loaded up all our stuff she like Mommy I’ll do anything just take me
With you wherever you go it’s so crazy oh my God so we biked with her for a week and it was like the best week of our trip like we just were this little Squad me m and Monty like biking and we like stopped and did some kaying and
Like we had this whole week and we made it to pagara is that how you say it P yes the capital and um then we had like a few days or like maybe even a day to like get Monti a crate and like get bike
Boxes and we had to get all ready for her to go on the plane which obviously she’s never been on a plane never even been in a car before yeah um but we got her on the plane and she like did really good on the flight we were really
Worried about her but she did really good and and yeah then we got back to Chicago and that was like eight months ago oh my goodness Monty and how did you come up with a name like I I can feel that but they explain for the people
Yeah so yeah the in the time where we like thought we lost her and when we got her back that we didn’t have a name for her until then and we were actually originally going to name her something else but it was just like Montenegro where we found her where it all started
So Monty for Mont for mro yeah it’s so beautiful and um as you say like how many dogs struggling over there and how many people struggling in Montenegro right and for you to find American lady come for you and bring you all the way to Chicago you are one lucky lucky
Lucky Dog Okay think and your story made me oh and your story made me cry of I mean you know you’re lucky that you found each other um how is Monty now learning English good I mean I don’t think she knew any like as far as we know like
Maybe you would know the command yes yes I can tell her a couple things Vol okay which means I love you um I don’t know if anybody body ever told her that over there so I don’t know if she would understand those things but she would probably understand the bad
Words because they’re mostly like trying to put the dogs to go away and things like that so for sure oh my God it’s just and how it’s been over here how she adapted to American life really good I mean she’s like my little like Adventure buddy like she follows me everywhere I
Go in the house and comes with me on all my adventures and like she’s just a really easygoing dog I mean she like she she was a stray dog so she has like stray dog tendencies in some ways but she’s super easy to train like we have
Like we’ve come a long way and yeah she’s like the best I love her neither M well maybe ma is like more of a dog person but like before this like I wouldn’t say I’m like a huge dog person like it’s just like Monty like Monty is
My soul dog and like I I never meant for this to happen I wasn’t like seeking a dog out but but it just happened right it just happened and I’m I’m so glad it did um I know right and you said like before that you you did not own any pets
Or even growing up where did you grow up we had like um you know like family pet family but not you on your own that you were so attached to right and um um where you grw up I grew up in northern Wisconsin uhhuh okay so it’s not far
From Chicago no and then um so it’s kind of your first experience with and how old is Monty so okay this is but yeah that’s what the Vets will say right they can kind of tell well actually well so at first the vet thought she was like
Two and a half uh and then this is like the story gets even crazier but um so basically Monty’s story was like on the news in Montenegro and like I had made some videos that gain some traction and like people like heard heard Monty story
So a couple months after we got back to Chicago some lady reached out to me and was like oh my God I recognized that dog like that dog was stray in this town which lined up with where we got her um for like at least like a year and a half
To like two years and like she had a whole litter of puppies at one point uhhuh um and like she said people in that Village or town like really liked Monty and would like bring her food cuz she was like actually friendly so that was like interesting to hear someone who
Like knew a part of her story before we met her uhhuh and then a couple months after that so like more recently another person reached out to me who recognized Monty and said oh my God I know that dog I I took care of that dog
When she was a puppy so this lady um found Monty when she was like a very small puppy with Monty’s mom mhm um on the side of the road and brought brought them in to take care of her like in her house until Monty was old enough to be
Adopted and then she gave Monty to this man who was supposed to take care of Mii and when that lady saw that guy again she was like how’s the dog and he’s like I I couldn’t take care of her I released her which is kind of common I
Know over there um so we actually do know her like exact birth date I think it was like August 16th at least according to that lady August 16th like 2021 20 okay so then she was younger than the wet originally predicted right or no about that about that age right
Yeah so she’s like three okay so yeah they can tell with okay well that’s amazing cuz you know you have another 20 years with um that’s that’s very good yeah and then um uh right now you said like does she still go biking with you and followes you runs next to your bike
And things like that yeah our new like favorite thing to do together is I got like a dog backpack and she she loves to go like in the backpack and we go like biking and walking and like you know Adventures like that but M and I had no
Idea you said she made a news like in Montenegro I have to look those up you have to send me the links and things like that cuz I can’t read them cuz they’re in yeah uhhuh so yeah I’ll send them to you but you have to send me those yeah
Uh Monte as when she entered she switched my car to a sport mode which I never use in my entire life and now the car is giving that sport sound which like I’m struggling now and I don’t know how to turn it off so we’ll ask Monty
Later how to fix the like I know I I saw this cars like this in Montenegro I know Monty you and I are from the same country and we both immigrated to United States of America do you see how similar we are you see you see that oh okay you
Can come you can come you see I like okay that’s that’s my body from my country okay want to drive okay okay that’s her favorite spot well very good Monte is a driver um well that makes me really happy and how much do you talk to Monty I want to
Know how much do I talk to her yes like every day I guess a lot right did Monty know that she’s going to be on a puppy Patrol today no I didn’t oh you didn’t tell her that okay I didn’t want her to get nervous oh okay okay well you see
How relaxed she is and she loved me immediately which is like amazing she forgives me for all the bad people in Montenegro that did wrong to her and like let her live on the street and all of those things at least oh she’s going to sleep
In you can hang out with her anytime you want oh I would love that I would love that and we will find a way for kale and her to play together in the park where things are better not like in a car closed space and everything so it could
Be a little bit um more challenging but um I ask everyone this on a puppy Patrol show and it’s kind of very um some people think an appropriate question but do you love Monty more than you love certain family members that’s a hard question I’ll say this I
Love Monty more than I ever thought I could ever love an animal like I I didn’t know that you could love an animal at this level but like I truly truly love Monty so much but that’s a really hard question I you know what majority of my guests immediately said
That they absolutely love their dog more than they love us there somebody was like oh there’s family members that I don’t even like um I love my family and I love Monte I would say it’s pretty equal exactly cuz Monte is your family right she is and she’s like the first
Thing I’ve ever had to like take care of it’s like you know she it’s a baby it’s like I really feel that cuz like that’s how I feel about my dog kale and you know his story is also so wild and it’s just like he came all the way from
Arkansas and like was his mom was saved and like survived death twice because like his mom was like supposed to be put down because they didn’t know what to do with her and not let alone with a puppies and then kale was also born with no breeding and then his mom did
Basically like a pushing with on on his little chest with her past trying to wake him up which is absolutely amazing but yeah um what a story what a story is there anything else about Monty that you would like to share that I didn’t ask you today I mean that’s yeah that pretty
Much sums up her story she’s she’s thriving in in Chicago and other places that we go but yeah we just feel really lucky to have her and she’s just like inherently such a good dog and yeah we love her so much this was everything it
Made me cry but it gave me life and I just love it and um thank you so much for doing that you you are just really you’re incredible human so um it it takes an incredible human to do what you have done and I just really want to give
You your flowers for that because like I know a lot of people love dogs and I know a lot of people will be like like oh that is so cool and like but not many would do everything that you have done so thank you so much for doing that
Thank you so much for um rescuing Monty and Monty rescuing you and thank you so much for being on a puppy Patrol show say hi Monty thank you everyone oh oh oh thank you everyone for watching the episode bye
