Used to ride bmx two years ago and quit because I lost interest, want to get back into it and i found this for only $500, it was originally $710. Really solid specs and weighs only 23lbs. Is colony any good and should I get it?

Pretty good bike, the only thing holding it back is the 8 spline cranks but thats only bc they squeak.
Honestly no. Their quality and design isn’t the best. Their main focus has always been park riding, so their design and construction focuses more on weight saving rather than strength.
I used to have a sweet tooth frame. Headtube was too short causing creaking. BB wasn’t machined that accurately. And the brake bosses had their own weird unique design which made installation and removal a pain. Also, I’ve seen tons of people snap or break aftermarket colony parts down the skatepark. Forks, pedals you name it.
There are better brands out there.
Two brands I avoid due to poor quality control are Cult and Colony.
Looks decent but looks can be deceiving. What’s your skill level? Would be a great beginner bike

Proud Aussie brand made for and by BMX riders. I used to ride with Clint back in the day before he started Colony, you were just as likely to find him at the skatepark riding as you were to see him there with a makeshift BBQ handing out free food or organizing shenanigans! Fucken awesome dude.
I took a hiatus from riding around the mid/late 00s and have been getting back into it this year (fuck Ive missed it!) and seeing Colony as a successful brand now is almost surreal, he said he wanted to do it, and he fucken did!! Hell yeah brother!!
Anyway, that’s my little fanboy story out of the way haha as far as their bikes and “proddy” go, I’ve been riding their frame, forks, rear wheel and cranks for a bit over a year now and they’ve held up great! Being an old/mid school street rider I’m very impressed with the punishment I’ve put that rear wheel through and the bastard is still straight!! Haha
I ride it for 3 yrs now… Solid bike, full cromoly, all sealed bearings. Rims are double wall.. Theyre fine too. I changed back breakes but the rest is really solid
I was looking at this but thinking of going with a Sunday instead. So torn as none of these brands were really around last time I rode. I think Sunday had just started at the tail end of my BMX days but now I have a son and he’s riding so want to get back into it before I turn 40.
