I am working on restoring an older bike that has [Shimano Exage Mountain brakes (U-brake in the back and a canti in the front)](https://i.imgur.com/FEzfpoM.jpeg). As the pads are likely 30+ years old, I would like to get them updated with something new as part of my build.
Maybe I am just over thinking this, but would a threaded cantilever pad work for both front and rear? Something like Kool Stop Eagle Claw 2? The extra wide canti pad is throwing me off a bit – would adding some spacers on the Eagle Claw 2 pads work?
