I didn’t really like the green fork this bike came with so I just switched it out with a random mongoose fork I had laying around and I noticed that the bottom bearing for the headset is showing. Is this gonna be a problem the only thing I can imagine happening is it getting covered in dirt from riding through mud or trails

It sort of looks like you’ve got stuff a bit backwards. The bearing shouldn’t be poking out like that, it should be fully cupped inside the headset. I almost wonder if you don’t have the old bearing race in there and you don’t need it.
Alternatively, that mongoose fork may need a lower race, and the gt fork might have been raceless. If you look at the gt fork, is it shaped a little bit like a cone (angled) where the middle tube meets the fork tubes? If so, you need a lower headset race.
Looks like it’s missing the lower race, if it came with 1 originally, but somethings wrong, shouldn’t be exposed like that
You should get the original fork powder coated black or diy it if your handy with the rattle cans.
