I’m on a 51 now, was advised that I could probably go 52 for my next bike. I’m 5’6.

What do you all think of these two options? The Look is a little above my price range, but maybe I could talk them down a bit?

Someone suggested I should be looking at older super bikes – any advice on what models/years to focus on would be appreciated. Ideally I’d spend like $1500.

  1. I don’t particularly like either.

The sworks is well over 10 years old, looks like 10 speed Dura Ace. There is a reason bikes like this are “cheap”. Partly because of dated tech. The other major component is that 10+ year old bikes probably need an overhaul and replacing significant parts of the drivetrain. You might find a [trailer queen](https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=trailer%20queen) that is in near mint and has a service record, but you will pay for that. More likely you will come across something a person rode hard for 5-10 years, forgot about for 5+ and then someone cleaned it up to make it presentable for sale.

The Look is the better bike but I don’t love the price. It looks like the seller sold the wheels separately from the bike and then stuck some 15+ year old carbon/aluminum wheels on the bike so it could be sold as a complete bike. You are not talking down to 1.5k. The bare Look frame is probably worth 1.5k.

The bike companies are having some sales on new bikes, worth a look. With 1.5k I would mostly be looking for a 105 11 speed Aluminum bike. If a sub 5 year old entry level carbon bike was listed for less than 1.9k then it could be worth a look.
