So I just got some new parts, bottom bracket and cranks is what I installed and obviously took everything apart , reassemble and my back wheel has never sat high up in the dropouts but now its bad ,,, perfect tension sits the rear wheel on the edge , literally. Is removing a link or2 from the chain advisable??? It has a master link with apin. Secondly. I was humiliated by the amount of crud that I let it collect,,,,, and was happy to see it come back to it’s new look. My question is if I break the chain can I use a solvent or product to just soak and rinse ??? Then once cleaned whata you guys use as lubricant ?? What about spacers on rear wheel???? And what would be proper ? Inside/outside?? Appreciate whatever suggestions or comments on any of these topics .

You could definitely afford to take a link out of that chain.
Also you don’t clean it with anything really. If you absolutely want to clean it just take it off, squirt it down with wd 40, and scrub it with a brush, then put it back on. No need for cleaning products because most of them are designed to remove grease, which the chain needs. No need to rinse because the wd 40 is supposed to be there.
Chains aren’t meant to last forever. If it’s that bad it’s with just getting a new one. But honestly, it doesn’t look bad at all.
