Hi everyone. I know the rims are tubeless compatible and I’ve just taken the old tyre and tube out.
These are cube ex 23 wheels.
I’m not sure if this tape can be left on and will work or if I need to remove it and apply new tubeless tape.
The tape seems to be be adhesive backed if that helps.
Any help appreciated.
Cheers.

That looks like duct tape. Lots of people have used it as a poor man’s alternative. Whether or not it will hold you won’t know until you try.
Had something similar just because that’s what I had laying around. Worked for years no issues. Maybe a touch heavier.
That certainly looks like tape applied for the purpose of sealing a tubeless wheel. If it isn’t purpose-made tubeless tape (and it doesn’t look like it is), you may be in for a world of aggravation taking it off…many popular ‘ghetto tubeless’ tape solutions leave a lot of residue that needs to be cleaned off before tape can be reapplied. It’ll definitely be worth it to dry mount a tubeless tire and see if it seats before going through the ordeal of removing and reapplying the tape.
Ok cheers. Consensus seems to be it’s just cheap tape.
I have tubeless tape so will take this off and clean the rim with IPA before applying the new tape. Thanks.
I was forced to use gorilla tape a while back as there were no bike shops near and my weekend nearly ended early, held suprisingly well, it’s still on and that was a year ago , good to know if your ever in a bit of a predicament
