During lockdown restrictions in Melbourne we weren’t able to get together to run races and rides like we usually would. Modern problems require modern solutions so we developed a format of GPS tracked street race that allows for a fully contactless, competitive race with the ability for people to spectate through twitch and connect within the community in chat.
If you’d like to tune in we’re streaming another one at 3pm AEST, 23rd of March as we celebrate 10 years of fixed gear melbourne with a street race, contests and DJS keeping the party going.
What do you think? An interesting new way of spectating and bringing in new faces? Or a risky heavily compromised mutation of something that should remain in the underground.

MonsterTrack in 2021 used an app for the checkpoints, and people were able to see who was where in real time. It got a real mixed reaction. I personally enjoyed it, but at the same time I do prefer seeing checkpoint people in person, and doing a checkpoint is a great way to get more people, especially people who wouldn’t race, involved with the community.
Overall, I’d say it’s an interesting thing to maybe do for an annual single alleycat, but I don’t think all alleycats should be run that way.
This is great, it would be cool for small towns with not much of a scene or even individual time trials for something different in training
