This 3 speed Real Classic Ladies bike is missing a gear shifting mechanism. Does anyone know how the mechanism worked for this type of bike (push pin, cable)? And if its possible to source replacement parts?

Rear hub “indicator chain” is what you need and they are available. Good luck.

If the hub has some markings, you can try to look up the manual to find what you need.
This is a SRAM T3 hub. There’s a plastic roller that clips into the little tab next to the wheel nut and a barrel adjuster. The indicator chain rolls over the wheel. You’ll struggle to get it work without the plastic bit. https://youtu.be/Q4Nhu6_i8Cs?si=WLmq9ue4kFr379JL
