And then like I ended up making my debut true did he like see like a highlight tape or something beforehand like I would imagine so I would imagine so no I never spoke to him about that but I was playing in Slovakia at the second division at that moment so I’m sure they
Have like some kind of database or maybe someone told him about me or something like that but I actually don’t know that’s wild yeah but um yeah that’s how that started so like that time span like between he messes you and like you actually making your first debut how
Long was that time span between that message and you you playing it probably took me at least seven months to get my documents in order and I actually missed like two major tournaments during that time really it was like the saf cup and I didn’t have anything in order so I

You’re there it’s kind of different to like normal day-to-day football because like you’re meeting these guys that you haven’t don’t really know before and then you’re together for a small period of time and you’re playing important matches like with your club team when you have like important matches it takes
Weeks of preparation tactical work whatever whatever and with your national team it’s sort of you show up and like you’re expected to perform but it’s hard to build like that same level chemistry chemistry exactly I know I know a lot of people say we had someone in our podcast
Before they saying that like champions league is a harder tournament because International supposedly it’s easier and I said no International is actually harder because like you said you’re playing with players that you don’t frequently play with you know people you don’t and it always time tournament by tournament it switches too right players
Come in players leave so it’s always different different gaffer as well so I always thought in my head like international soccer is the hardest in my opinion I think harder in terms of getting a cohesive group together the quality of play is definitely higher in the Champions League yeah I know because
It’s more tactical you have more time to work on things but harder in terms of more things have to go right for you to be competitive as a nation right uh age of your players the coaching has to like get a group of players that are similar
In mindset and playing Styles so in that way I agree that it’s hurter but level of play is definitely significant lower than Club football yeah and that’s the thing too you don’t get to choose I guess you consider also your your nationality and your timing as well like
You can go into a timing where your your International Teams doing poorly they don’t have any good talent right or you can go into a time like I’m Ecuadorian right now for Ecuador was probably our best time because we have a lot of youth players like kais though who’s doing
Good at Chelsea we have a good youth team right now so it’s like you never know when it’s going to happen for your international team club team you can buy players so you can always do kind of well if not better so that’s why International for me it’s harder to have
That chemistry morale well yeah especially for the top countries if you’re talking about like major International tournaments if your key players get injured then it’s what a four year window to like back healthy again and like you know there’s a lot of factors into it yeah
Yeah but yeah anyways um like like did you feel like your teammates kind of treated you differently cuz you’re born in Germany right but you’re Canadian too did they kind of treat you differently because of that or um there was a few overseas players there like guys that
Don’t live in Pakistan currently so it wasn’t so bad and I actually speak both languages okay so I was kind of even doing some translating some other overseas guys who don’t speak like the local language so like even sometimes the the coach only spoke English so he
Had his and I’m like was he Pakistani as well the coach he was Brazilian um yeah so he was Brazilian but he only spoke English the assistant coach spoke like broken English and full or I spoke I speak like pretty well in both so like I was like kind of helping
Translate and whatever but no I didn’t really notice like guys treating me differently for that but interesting in the media there’s a lot about that though especially in like some of these smaller countries like they’re so focused on oh giving our local players a chance that I don’t know like they kind
