after about 5 years, it finally broke off on me the other morning 🥲 the light still works perfectly fine, just looking for clever ideas in regards to getting this thing to be functional and detachable. thank you!
It appears to me that the connection in the light is broken. If it appeared the strap was broken I’d ask my local bike shop if replacement straps could be ordered and test if it would fit.
I’ve fashioned Velcro straps before to secure a light without an attachment. It proved wonky and after a rough patch was at bad angles. I once strapped Velcro through a helmet but was counseled that the light could cause brain damage if I landed on my helmet. My $50 light wasn’t worth a permanent disability.
In the end I recharged it for use while walking the dog at night, and invested in a smaller and brighter bike light that was better attached to my handlebar.

Oh yo this happened to me too. I tried to solvent weld the post back on but no dice.Â
I keep it with some rubber bands as my backup light.Â

Criss cross velcro straps on the handlebars
Hold it in your mouth while you bike.
Or use some ski straps to hold it in place. Like [these](https://www.voile.com/voile-straps.html)
A hair band, wrap it around like this: https://amzn.asia/d/fnvs8Bx or buy that.
