  1. Nah, I’m not that picky. I’ve got a parts bin MB1 that rides fine and doesn’t require a lot of maintenance. Running V brakes since day 1.

    Did the same thing like an hour ago with an ’83 Trek 720, gonna go pick it up tomorrow. Do I need another early 80’s tourer? No . . . but it was too good a deal to pass up.

  3. I personally like modern-ish components on the old frames. As much as anything because newer style parts are often easier to maintain and replace.

    Do with it as you please. Gene Oberpriller changed things on his, and John Stamstad hung a bunch of Grafton parts on his XO-1. Even Pineapple Bob modded his Bridgestones. Remember though, this is the bike that coined the phrase “one season frame.”
