Got an early 90s Cannondale M2000 mountain bike that was updated with V-brakes. I believe it originally came with cantilever brakes and I was wondering if this rear piece of the frame is designed as a cable hanger for brake wire? I don’t believe it’s threaded for a barrel adjuster and outer cable ends are too small to fit. Is there another piece that would sit in the hole around the cable wire or am I completely wrong about it’s purpose?

nah you are right its cantilever cable stop i have a bike like that too and Cooles thing it has a hole in it stem as a cable stop so cute.
Something like a [cable adjuster](https://www.biketoolsetc.com/index.cgi?id=713575122000&d=single&c=Repair-Parts&sc=Brake&tc=Barrel-Adjusters&item_id=JW-NZ1222) would go in there.
