Picked up a Marlin 7 Gen 2 for 800 dollars with plans to put a dropper on it, but haven’t fallen in love yet and want to know if I should stick with it. There’s always a better price somewhere but I mainly want to know if I’m being ripped off. Thank you!
Stick with it or wait a little longer for something else?

When riding around, compared to a Roscoe I rented (out of my price range), the Marlin feels like a “harsh” ride? I also got a large frame, so poor sizing may be part of it as well.
I want to get into trail riding and be able to work up to blue/red terrain while also having a bike I can ride on paved terrain as unfortunately my house is not accessed solely by singletrack.
