I’m a total newbie when it comes to servicing my bike, and especially the gears.
Everything was working fine until I switched my rear wheel, after that my rear derailleur stopped responding.
Now when shifting my gears go from the highest to the 4th lowest, and nothing in between.
I cannot feel any tension changes until the 4th lowest gear, after that the line is tensing and the derailleur is moving normally.
Any ideas what might have happened?

After moving to the 4th gear the derailleur is responding but it’s not normal, it’s super hard to shift and you can the tension is very high. It almost feels like the lever has a hard time to keep it in that gear.
I can feel that cable tensing a little bit with each gear shift but the derailleur is not moving.
cable is very loose, move shifter to the smallest cog’s position, the readjust the cable at the derailleur so that it starts to pull as soon as you move the lever.
Cable is way too loose. The end should be seated in the shifter. There is visible slack in the cable at the derailleur. You need to loosen the nut on the derailleur and take out the slack then readjust the derailleur. Check out the Park Tool channel on YouTube. Search for videos on installing and adjusting derailleurs.
Inspect cable housings and cable for frayed or kinked housing/broken ferrules.
My recommendation is to pull the shift cable, and check each ends of the housing, lubricate the interior housings and replace any broken ferrules and replace the shift cable.
The cable is supposed to be routed through/resting against a little arm right before the cable bolt. As shown in this picture:

if this started all of a sudden you have a housing end cap that gave up and is slipping past the stop it is in. Remove all cable/housings and check health of each end .
