It is my understanding that the telescopic seatpost is complete in itself, and *replaces* the original (standard or extended) seatpost. The old seatpost can then be discarded..sold, say, or some other use for it found.

I cannot speak for non-Brompton part compatability, but is it that the Pentaclip is not working for you? It can seem a bit complicated, specially if you have had it apart and need to reassemble it. ‘Brilliant Bikes’ has a YouTube video on it, as I recall. (Great resource of Brompton stuff on their channel.)

You are talking about bikes and ‘regular’. These things don’t go together.

The Brompton uses a funny size, the Joseph Kuosac telescopic uses a 27.2mm top and you can buy just the lower part if you want to.
