These are the steps which I did to bleed my brakes.
Adjust the brake levers such that they are horizontal, and then take out the screw to put the filter cup in.
On the rear brakes, I took out the rubber cap and placed my syringe in which was filled with Shimano mineral oil.
Loosened the screw a bit on the rear brakes, and pumped in the new mineral oil. I was tapping on the hoses to release air bubbles
Once the cup was full, I closed everything and cleaned it all up.
I realised the brake was still spongy so I tried this method multiple times.
However, I could never fix my brakes.
As shown on this picture, the rubber cap on the rear brake caliper seems to pop out and leak oil every time I brake. My brakes are still spongy and useless. I even changed brake pads which did not help it.

Have you checked pad and disc wear?
Perhaps the syringe was putting in new bubbles? See if there are any in your fluid and if there are then position the syringe so that the hose goes down and all bubbles go up the syringe and slowly push the fluid in. Also maybe you disconnected the syringe before tightening the bleed port? That could also introduce some air into the system
